VILLA AMANZI
Hout Bay / Cape Town
Guest house Villa Amanzi - by athletes for athletes
Amanzi is Xhosa (one of the 11 national languages of South Africa) and means water, on the water, at the water. But it is also a fictional place in South Africa in the fiction thriller "Fever" by the South African bestselling author Deon Meyer. Our charming guest house has a beautiful garden, a large pool, sundecks and plenty of space to relax. We have always been very sporty and have found the ideal starting point for our sporting activities. A passion that we like to share with our guests.
We are looking forward to your visit.
Hout Bay is on the one hand a district south of Cape Town in the province of Western Cape in South Africa, on the other hand the name of the bay where the place is located. The original name was Hout-Bajken, in English "small wooden bay" because the settlers covered their wood needs here. Since the end of the 19th century, Hout Bay has become an important place for South African fisheries due to the huge fish population. Hout Bay was discovered as a vacation and tourist destination in the 1980s, and the proportion of non-South African residents has grown steadily since then. There are numerous restaurants, a small shopping center and the famous Bay Harbor Market, which is located directly at the harbor. A curiosity is the sign at the entrance to the town, which indicates the "Republic of Hout Bay". In Hout Bay begins the Chapman’s Peak Drive, which heads south on the Cape Peninsula and was built in 1922, one of the most spectacular coastal roads in the world.
ABOUT US
Andi Ettlin

I've always had a flair for guest care, active exercise and longing for the ocean. I found my oasis in South Africa, more precisely in the Cape Peninsula. As a former indoor & beach volleyball player and rower, I am now on two wheels. On the MTB I did the Cape Epic 3times (Amabubesi Finisher Club) and on my racing bike there is a Sub3 on my best list at the world's largest bike race, the Cape Town Cylcle Tour (109 km, 35'000 participants). I am happy to share my passion for cycling with you. Chrigel and I used to play volleyball together, later we ran a restaurant, among other things.
Chrigel Ruff

In my youth I was an gymnast and later a volleyball player and I studied sports coach/manager at the Swiss sports university in Magglingen. As a volleyball expert, I coached many indoor teams and beach teams in Switzerland. Spread over several years, around 150 weeks, I worked as a trainer in the beach volleyball camps in Cesenatico. My travels have taken me to Australia, Hawaii, the Philippines, Zanzibar, Mauritius, Reunion Island, Cuba and Dom Rep. My dream has always been to live on an island. Now it is "only" a peninsula, the Cape Peninsula, but I am here for our guests with all my heart. I have known Andi for decades, we have done and experienced a lot together!
